Ruby red with youthful violet edging. Red fruit, redcurrants, raspberries & heart cherries from the Pinot Noir parent. Full bodied, with damp forest floor & mushrooms, black cherries, almost savoury. Grapes were hand harvested to minimize damage to the berries. Grapes were chilled before bunch sorting. After de-stemming, the berries were sorted by hand to remove raisins, pink berries & large berries. Cold soaking preceded temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel tanks & open-top French oak vats. Free run wine was drained to a combination of 1st & 2nd fill barrels & matured for 18 months. Barrel selections were made to create this beautiful example of a balanced, cool climate Pinotage with great complexity & ageing potential.
