The 2018 Rohe Blind River Sauvignon Blanc shows attractive aromas of lemongrass, ripe pink grapefruit & yellow stone fruits with underlying jalapeno & yellow bell peppers. The palate is big, super concentrated & luscious with layers of sweet melon, ripe grapefruit & papaya complemented by an attractive moorish & juicy acidity. Blind River is a small sub-region found south of Awatere, Marlborough. Arguably the harshest environment of all the valleys, this area is particularly windy & dry. The station that the vineyard is located on was once named Atacama after the driest desert on Earth in Chile. The climate & terroir develops unique & intensified flavours as the grapevines are naturally restricted.
