Intense red colour with bluish hints. On the nose its fine notes of ripe jammy-red fruit stand out, over a smooth toasted & spiced background, resulting from the short time it spent in the barrel. It has a potent entry into the mouth, with spiced notes, & once again a hint of jam, culminating in a long, elegant finish. Its smooth tannins lend it a versatility that enhances both fish & meat dishes. Excellent with cod & especially with ratatouille, but also with meat dishes, such as Spanish pork sirloin. It is also a perfect accompaniment for delicatessen meats & creamy cheeses.
