Limited stock. Selected by our vineyard & winemaking team, Mud House Single Vineyard wines are expressions of their terrior, accented by the craft of our winemakers. Hungry Hill vineyard is in the Ure Valley, our most southern valley in Marlborough. After a selective hand harvest the bunches were whole bunch pressed & the free run was settled in tank for 24 hours before being racked into barrels to start fermentation naturally. After primary fermentation the wine underwent partial malolactic fermentation & regular lees stiring. After 10 months in oak the wine was racked from barrel & prepared for bottling.
Colour: Straw yellow. Nose: Flinty lifted notes of citrus & white fleshed peach with sweet spicy oak. Palate: The palate is full but refined. Fresh citrus blossom on the front palate leads to a lovely rounded finish with toasty brioche flavours. Food Matching: Roasted Pork fillet The Hungry Hill vineyard in the Ure Valley is our most southern valley in Marlborough situated 1 km from the Pacific Coast. The river gravel & lime stone chip soils are unique in Marlborough offering wines of well structured acidity, fine aromatics & minerality. The narrow valley is exposed to cooling sea breezes which moderate the summer temperatures.
