Caskmates is a partnership with Irish craft brewer Franciscan Wells, where the brewers age Jameson Original in their used stout barrels. Nose: The initial aroma of freshly mown Hay is complimented by a crisp orchard fruit character, green apples & pears along with a twist of lime zest. Mild pot still spices appear, deepening from green tea to hazelnut & milk chocolate. Taste: As expected, there is the initial sweet mouth coating typical of the Irish pot still whiskey inclusion. Then the effect of the beer cask finish becomes apparent with the subtle touch of hops & cocoa beans. Some marzipan & charred oak add to the complexity. Finish: Long & sweet with milk chocolate & butterscotch. ...

Nose: A real full bodied aroma. Initially sweet with ripe fruit notes of melon, bananas & dark fleshy plums. The unmistakable pot still spicy character combines to give hints of treacle, cinnamon & liquorice. Taste: A mouthful of flavours. Mellow sweetness & toasted wood are complemented by fruit richness characteristic of the port casks. A touch of creamy dairy fudge & dark chocolate add to the complexity. Finish: A tantalisingly long finish which covers the spectrum from the sweetness of fruit, through the spices to the unmistakable note of barley, where it all began. You've met the Jameson Family, now meet the Godfather of them all, Jameson Rarest Vintage Reserve. This initial expression of maturing rare pot still whiskey in traditional fortified wine casks is a triumph of the collaboration between the Jameson Masters; devotees to their craft whose skill & artistry have been richly rewarded. All the whiskeys in this magnificent Reserve are of an advanced age & have an immense collage of flavours to impart from their time in the wood. The pick of Jameson's older grain whiskeys were brought together with some rare & charismatic pot still whiskeys that had been matured in h&-picked second fill bourbon casks. These were carefully married with a rare pot still whiskey that was aged to a fantastic mellow sweetness in specially commissioned port pipes. The resulting union has a glorious, fruit rich character. ...

Redbreast is a very special whiskey within the Irish Distillers fortified as it's the only 12 year old Pure Pot Still available. It was first launched in 1939 as the brand name given to the pot still whiskey supplied by Jameson to whiskey bonders before bottling at the distillery became the norm in 1968. Stocks of whiskey in bonders' stores petered out, & thus Redbreast all but disappeared until its re-launch by the distillery in the 1990s as a single pot still whiskey. This pure pot still whiskey is matured for a minimum of 12 years in sherry casks & Bourbon barrels. Like all good pot still whiskeys, it is strongly flavoured & assertive, making it a rare treat for the connoisseur of fine old whiskey. Redbreast 12 Year Old was awarded the overall trophy for the second consecutive year in the International Wine & Spirits competition. Also Winner of Double Gold at the 2005 San Francisco World Spirits Competition. As all premium whiskeys can be consumed neat, but for a better tasting the recommendation from our Master Blender is to add a drop of water to dilute the alcohol & so release the intense flavours of this unique Pot Still Whiskey. ...
