They named this style Royal Dock after the yard of the same name, located in Deptford on the Thames in South London, which was established in 1513 by Henry VIII. The Royal Dock yard was the largest of the Admiralty in Engl&, with the other 2 in Gosport & Plymouth. Over the following four centuries the Royal Dockyard became a storied location & the point of departure for some of the most significant ventures in British naval history.
