Our approach to chardonnay is one of exacting precision & restriction of embellishment. The fruit & subsequent wine is raised in a stoic fashion void of any unnecessary interpretation. The objective is to exhibit site character in the most lucid & transparent way possible without the distraction of any extraneous intervention that would callously be imposed in the cellar. With the goal of expressing a comprehensive expression of the appellation, we selected five unique vineyard sites to create this Sta. Rita Hills bottling. This blend is comprised of Mount Carmel, 3-D, Gnesa, Sea Smoke & Zotovich. Whole cluster fermentation also helps to complement the inherent spherical tendencies of our appellation towards a more Cartesian end point. This bottling is comprised of 100% estate pinot noir from three vineyards within the AVA. Mount Carmel, 3-D and Machado all contribute to the wine which exhibits a drive, richness and pedigree expressive of our special growing area coupled with the purity of fruit and firm structure which have been the trademark of Brewer - Clifton.
