Limited stock. Bottled from the Last Consignment of stock of Royal Naval Rum, which had been hidden in storage since Black Tot Day in 1970
- when the official rations ceased
- Black Tot is a true piece of rum (and naval) history. Rumfest Golden Rum Barrel Awards 2010: Best European Rum. The name ' Black Tot' stems from July 31st 1970 when a 300-year-old Royal Naval tradition ended at precisely 6 bells in the forenoon watch (11 am) when the last rum ration was issued aboard ships of the British Royal Navy
- a day to be forever remembered as Black Tot Day. Forty years on, the last remaining Royal Naval rum stocks from 1970 are being sold. This last consignment of the original rum has been bottled from the original imperial gallon stone flagons into which it had been filled & sealed under HM Customs & Excise supervision in December 1970. Black Tot
- Last Consignment rum was officially released on the 31st July 2010 to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of Black Tot Day. This unique rum represents the last fragment of a Naval tradition that began in 1655 & ended forty years ago, & as such, can be considered an important landmark in naval history, & the history of rum itself. Tasting Notes by Dave Broom... The Colour
- Bright, yet deep mahogany cut with flashes of ruby. The Nose
- Initial treacle notes precede dark chocolate with super-ripe black fruits, muscovado sugar & walnuts. A drop of water releases notes of black banana, liquorice root, tamarind paste with an exotic edge of balsamic. Limited stock. The Palate
- Starts off thick & sweet, becoming light & oaky before a burst of cassis / creme de mures then espresso & cacao. The Finish
- Very long with light scented wood, black fruits & cigar tobacco. The Strength
- Remarkably, after 40 years Black Tot will be introduced at 54.3% (94.2° proof), almost exactly original issuing strength.

Blackwoods Nordic Vodka inherits the 1200-year-old tradition of Viking voyages across the North Sea. These hardy pioneers settled first in the Shetland Islands, far North of Scotl&. At sea, a Viking might cool his drink by tying a rope around it & letting it chill in the icy waters of the North Atlantic. This same perfect chilling can be achieved today just by putting your Blackwoods Vodka in the freezer or fridge. You know it is ready to serve when the front panel changes colour from Frost to Iceberg blue (and from May 1, to fiery Viking red!). This is the first Vodka in the world to be ice filtered, as well as triple distilled over Nordic Birch charcoal for exceptional purity & smoothness. A process unique to Blackwood Distillers, their Blackwoods Vodka has been created by super chilling to optimise the product for chilled drinking. The 100% triple distilled wheat grain spirit is then combined with natural spring water from Shetlands sandstone aquifers that bubble up from deep under the rocks of the North Atlantic. The Shetland Islands, lying at the far North of Scotland off the coast of Norway have an ancient Viking past, a people who preferred their drink pure, smooth & often by necessity, ice cold. Ideal chilled, neat or mixed, 70% of taste testers have voted Blackwoods Nordic Vodka their number 1 choice for smoothness in blind taste tests & 80% placed it in their top two. This was against Smirnoff, Absolut, Vladivar & Skky. Blackwoods Nordic Vodka is specifically designed to be drunk chilled at 5oC or less & its exceptional smoothness comes from a combination of its Birch charcoal & ice filtering, purity of water as well as a special secret process! Crisp, bracing & with the smoothest of finishes: Vodka fit for our Viking forefathers. Is this the worlds smoothest vodka? Only you can judge! ...

Blackwell - Black Gold 70cl Bottle

Music icon and entrepreneur Chris Blackwell is no stranger to rum. He recalls his destiny when young was to take over the famous rum distillers J. Wray & Nephew, the family firm. However fate intervened, the business was sold in1957 and Chris sett off on another track, setting up Island Records in Kingston in 1959 and the rest is, as they say, history. Sure, maybe people like a bit of the history and things I've done says Blackwell, but I'm really only connected to this product because I think it's a truly great tasting rum. Blackwell Rum is a dark gold rum made from Jamaican sugar cane and distilled by Jamaican workers. Chris, as a Jamaican knows his fellow islanders prize the darker style of gold rums and this is his take on the local favourite.
