Leon beer is a finest top quality product that is brewed using the very high standards of raw material selection & processing as Carlsberg beer & conforms to the well known German purity law, the Reinheitsgebot. Three types of the highest quality malts are used for making Leon
- barley, dark roasted barley & caramelised malts all blended according to the Leon recipe to provide a malty sweetness & body to the final product. Leon is brewed using hops of the highest quality. Hops of the Tettanger variety are grown in the Tettnang region of Germany, a place known for its finest top quality hops. The variety belongs to the category of noble hops, a term that traditionally refers to four varieties of hops which are low in bitterness & high in aroma. Each one of them is named for a specific region or city in which they were first grown or primarily grown. A unique type of yeast is used that has been developed in co-operation with one of the best laboratories worldwide & involves the mixture of several type of yeast. The selected yeast is exclusively used for Leon & is the key factor for the development of a rich blend of esters which in turn give that extra fruity flavour & aroma to the beer. Water on average makes up around 95% of beer & its quality is of utmost importance in producing any beer. At Photiades brewery, water is pumped in from well monitored sources including privately owned boreholes & through the use of latest technology equipment this is purified & softened.
