When news of the war broke out in 1914, nothing could prepare the citizens of Bath for the changes that would envelop their city over the next four years.

The story of Bath in the Great War is both an interesting & intriguing one. This book covers this historic citys involvement from the commencement of the Great War in July 1914, to the Armistice in November 1918, describing in great detail what happened to the city & its people, including their everyday lives, entertainment, spies & the internment of aliens living within the city.

Bath played a key role in the deployment of troops to Northern Europe as well as supplying vital munitions. Local men responded keenly to recruitment drives & thousands of soldiers were billeted in the city before being sent off to fight the enemy overseas. The city also played a vital role caring for the many wounded soldiers who returned home from the front.

As the end of the war was announced there were tremendous celebrations in the streets, but the effects of war lasted for years to come. By the end of the conflict, there wasnt a family in Bath who hadnt lost a son, father, nephew, uncle or brother.

A heart-warming memoir about life as a nursery nurse & nanny in the 1960s, for fans of Call the Midwife. In 1961, sixteen year-old Pam Weaver began her training as a nursery nurse. Drawn to this profession by her caring nature & a desire to earn her own living, Pam had no idea of the road she was about to start down. At the government-run nursery, she found early mornings, endless floors to scrub, overbearing matrons, heartbreaking stories of abandonment, true friends & life lessons that would stay with her for decades. Bath Times & Nursery Rhymes is Pams memoir about her time in state nurseries & as a Hyde Park private nanny. It will recount the highs & lows of that time with engaging & uplifting honesty. ...

Bath Tangle

The Earl of Spenborough has always been noted for his eccentricity. Leaving a widow younger than his own daughter Serena is one thing, but quite another is leaving Serena's fortune to the trusteeship of the Marquis of Rotherham -- a man whom Serena once jilted and who now has the power to give or withhold his consent to any marriage she might contemplate. When Serena and her lovely young stepmother Fanny decide to move to Bath, Serena makes an odd new friend and discovers an old love, Major Hector Kirkby. Before long, Serena, Fanny, Kirkby, and Rotherham are entangled in a welter of marriage and manners the like of which even Regency Bath has rarely seen.
