- a series of four limited edition bottlings representing Orcadian mythology with a healthy Scandinavia godly twist. Bottled at full strength & presented in wooden frame which echoes the fearsome contours of a traditional Viking long ship. Highland Park Highland Park Distillery is the most northerly malt whisky distillery in Scotland & the closest Scottish distillery to the Arctic Circle. Highland Park was established in 1798 & is one of the few Scottish distilleries which continues to malt barley on its own traditional malting floors & to use locally cut peat from Hobbister Moor in its malt kiln. The distillery visitor centre welcomes visitors & offers distillery tours. Nose: Concentrated & forceful, with an explosion of aromatic smoke, pungent fresh ginger, antique copper, stewed plums, & golden syrup. With water, earthy notes emerge, like a garden after a heavy rain shower. Palate: Thor’s high strength grabs the palate & refuses to let go. Initially dry, with fiery gingerbread then vanilla, blackberries, fresh mango, peach & hints of cinnamon. As its big flavours swirl around the mouth, some softer, sweeter notes develop, giving Thor & unexpected layer of complexity & depth. Finish: The finish thunders on, leaving behind lingering notes of sweet vanilla & an intense spiciness.
