After mellowing in a refill cask to develop the soft distillery character for a decade, a secondary maturation in a specifically chosen amontillado sherry wood cask ensures that all the good work continues. Gold award winner International Wine & Spirits Competition 2011. Glenkinchie Glenkinchie Distillery was established as Milton Distillery near Pencaitland by John Rate in 1825. Equipped with just two stills but the wash still is one of the largest in Scotland & the spirit is still cooled in two big worm tubs fed by the Kinchie Burn. The old maltings now house an excellent museum & visitor centre which offers distillery tours & samples of Glenkinchie single malt whiskies. Intense, a biscuity-sweetness followed by a long echoing interplay of sugar sweetness & oaky dryness. An astonishingly long finish, dry & soothing.
