Glengyle Kilkerran Work In Progress 3
New 2011 release of the lightly peated, double distilled single malt from Glengyle distillery in Campbeltown. This third release is limited to 9, 000 bottles. Glengyle William Mitchell established Glengyle Distillery in 1872 in Campbeltown at the foot of the Kintyre Peninsular. Closed in 1925, malt whisky stock sold and all the equipment removed. The buildings were purchased by Hedley Wright in 2000 who re-furbished and re-opened Glengyle Distillery in 2004. Now equipped with two small stills and operating for one or two months per year to produce Glengyle single malt whisky which is called Kilkeran. Nose: Spicy buns! Cardamon, cinnamon, heather honey, butter toffee with a slight savory note of toffee popcorn. Palate: Like a silky smooth melted honey comb chocolate bar. Fruitiness
present as crisp and very sweet red apples. Incredibly rich and buttery, like gingerbread cookie dough, yet fresh with hints of clover and freshly cut summers grass. Finish: Alluring and warm... a great summers evening dram that leaves you licking your lips for more.
