BACKGROUND TO TOBERMORY

Prior to 1993, the wood policy at Tobermory was basically: ‘the cask is made from wood. Wood comes from trees. It’ll be fine.’ That was before Burn Stewart took over. This whisky was distilled in 1995 & put into an ex-bourbon hogshead & left to mature for 24 years. So we knew this would be some pretty special stuff when we came across this cask. Tobermory is a whisky that takes time to mature, to develop & evolve nuance & complexity. This one has done exactly that.
