The Balvenie Rose is a very limited bottle & was sold at the distillery exclusively, maturing for 16 years in American Oak & being finished in a first fill port pipe. The Rose was created from the amazing history of Balvenie Castle. It is a story of love, murder & intrigue. Margaret Douglas was married to the notorious Black Douglas who rebelled against King James II. The battle was lost & all titles & estates went with it. However, the King was taken with Margarets beauty & set the annual rent to a single Red Rose (what would someone do today to be able to pay a single rose as rent!). ...

This 12 year old single malt was released as part of Balvenie's 2019 ' Stories' collection. This bottle was titled ' The Sweet Toast of American Oak, ' & with good reason! The first (but by no means last!) offering from Apprentice Malt Master Kelsey Mc Kechnie, we wish our first-attempts were this astounding! The sweet whisky is the product of spirit aged primarily in ex-bourbon casks, followed by 'cask finishing' in toasted Kentucky Virgin Oak Barrels, the whisky is then set aside to mature for a few more months. Each bottle featured in ' The Balvenie Stories' is equipped with an NFC-enabled neck tag, when scanned a podcast is revealed reciting the narrative that inspired that particular bottle, an innovative addition from Balvenie, we feel it completes the multi-sensory experience! ...
