This is the 2017 bottling of Springbank's malt produced using locally sourced barley Distilled: February 2006 Bottled: February 2017 Age: 11 years old 53.1% ABV / 70cl Bottle Number: One of only 9000 bottles released. There are several factors that make the Springbank distillery unique. It is the oldest distillery in Scotland owned by the same family, 100% of the production process is carried out on one site, & it remains the largest private employer in Campbeltown employing over 60 people. Nose: What an incredible nose, to start with marmalade & honey, then mineral notes from the Kintyre peninsula. As it opens up, freshly baked bread with sweet notes of sun dried bananas to contrast with salted caramel topping. Palate: The promise given in the nose continues, a lovely creaminess & sweetness of grapes, custard, honeycomb & marshmallow. This is balanced with salted popcorn & liquorice, & an ever present, hint of peat. Finish: Theres a nutty quality about this, almonds, hazelnuts & walnuts as well as an air of indulgence, rich & buttery with an elegant finish that keeps on giving.
