Another rare bottle for the ever increasing number of Arran collectors out there, the Robert Burns World Federation whisky. Presented in a nice wooden box with one of his poems printed on a scroll. This was bottled to commemorate Isle of Arran Distillery becoming a Patron of the Robert Burns World Federation Limited on 25th January 2001. Although Robbert Burns may never have stepped onto the Isle of Arran, the distillery is the closest one geographically to the place of his birth, Ayrshire. A relative youngster
- the distillery started production on the 17th of August 1995 Arran has quickly won an army of fans that have been drawn to the quality of the whisky produced in the shadow of the nesting site of a pair of golden eagles. Nose: Fresh herbs & crisp, clean ginger & fruity aromas. Palate: More fruit, apples & pears & citrusy lemon & orange. Then sweet honey & some gentle spice. Finish: The finish is long, with light spice & more zesty notes.

In this Smugglers Series Vol.3 The Exciseman Arran conclude their popular series which pays tribute to the exuberant character of those striving to outwit the Governments representatives in the pursuit of the production of the famed Arran Waters. The Madeira casks used in this final volume, are similar to the ones utilised by Arrans illicit distillers, who often stored & transported locally produced whisky in old Madeira casks brought over from the continent by their smuggling counterparts. The Quarter Casks are a nod to the type of small casks which would have been the easiest to transport. The resulting liquid is complex, full of character & a wonderful way to end a series which has so perfectly paid tribute to the independent characters of Arran over the centuries. NOSE: The rich honeyed character is immediate on the nose, luxuriously decadent. The fresh coastal character is also evident. Apples, vanilla & a touch of spice are also subtly present with a hint of toasted oak. PALATE: It coats the tongue & the notes of apple & vanilla are in abundance. No hint of dryness on the palate, it grows in sweet intensity & provides a rounded mouth feel. The addition of water opens up the complexity beautifully & reveals a lighter sweetness of candied lemon. FINISH: Long, luxurious & yet delightfully fresh. The notes of apple & citrus give a lightness of character whilst the body remains solidly complex & robust. A typical Arran with an added layer of sweetness. ...
