Up until very recently, Kininvie was hidden away. Sharing a site with its more famous sister distillery Balvenie (they share mashtuns & washbacks but have separate stills), Kininvie has been producing malt whisky for the blends of William Grants without the spotlight of its own product. However. this has all changed the with release of small batch editions. At present, there are two small batch releases, one for the Taiwan & UK markets respectively. This 17 year old sees the first release of Kinivie for the Travel Retail sector. Aged in 80% American Oak & 20% Sherry casks, so the same as its sister bottlings, this is a meaty little dram. NOSE: Closed, even with water, gentle nose, not too overpowering PALATE: Medium bodied, dry & spicy, pepper, shoe polish, ginger, honey & mint FINISH: Medium dry, ginger, pepper, minty & strawberry. ...

The London gin with a Japanese heart! The small Sansho berry gives Kokoro its distinctive flavour – a citrusy zing balanced by a warm & peppery finish. These berries grow wild in the Afan Woodland in the Japanese Alps & are picked by hand at the start of the season, flash frozen & then shipped in dry ice to the UK where the magic happens. Kokoro, meaning ‘heart’ in Japanese, is unique in flavour & delicious served with ice & tonic & garnished with a large sliver of fresh ginger & a twist of lemon. ...

This exotic unpeated expression of Kanya derives from the sunny shores of Goa, encapsulates a tender innocence enhanced with hints of honeyed fruitiness & a soft tinge of spice. Ruled by Mercury & symbolised by the virgin, Kanya is the dignified Indian counterpart of the highly appealing Virgo, the sixth zodiac sign of the universe. With its earthy, feminine sensuousness, this deep amber expression personifies the intrinsic characteristics of the Kanya. Matured for 7 years in American white oak casks, its delectable aromas of citrusy spice & tropical fruit lures you to savour its creamy, butterscotch sweetness. The satisfying finish of toasted oak with warm wafts of spice has just the slightest hint of salt, making it ever more memorable. With rare complexities & an exquisitely balanced dryness, the Kanya, in all its luscious allure, is perhaps one of the softest Indian whiskies ever to be bottled. Only 1, 500 bottles were produced. In Jim Murray's Whisky Bible 2018, this expression was awarded a staggering 96 points & the title of Best Asian Whisky 2018! Nose: A light citrus with manuka honey arrives early; an intense malt is infused with ripe peach, apricot & vanilla. Palate: superb mouthfeel of rich creaminess. The oak delivers a soft, sweet, delectable butterscotch. Finish: Warm spices suffuse the toasted oak, & the slightest of saltiness ensures the friendliest of finishes. ...

Established in 1955 the Karuizawa distillery can be found in the foothills of Mount Asama, Japan – traditional, small-scale, high-quality production is the aim, with wooden wash backs, small stills, & sherry casks from Spain, all contributing to the process. The environment is also ideal for whisky production, with low temperatures & high humidity. Karuizawa is the gold standard for rare Japanese whisky. The distillery closed its doors in 2011, although it had not been producing whisky for over a decade. One of only 375 bottles ever released, this particular En Soi whisky from Karuizawa was distilled in 1981, then matured in Sherry Butt cask 8461 for 32 years, bottled in July 2013 exclusively for La Maison Du Whisky. ...
