Presented in the classic black & gold, this Antiquary Deluxe blended Scotch whisky was produced in the 1970s at 70 proof. Box is somewhat bashed, but rather adds to it's 1970's charm. This is a historical bottle with definite nostalgia value! Nose: Light fruits & flowers marry well with straw & a little bit of citrus. Palate: Quite smooth & delicate for a whisky that has been sitting in this bottle for over 20 years. Finish: A medium fruity finish All in all a pleasant, very smooth blend. ...
A very rare bottling of Ardbeg & the first single cask released by the distillery in many years. Distilled in 2005 & matured in single cask 1321, an Oloroso sherry butt for 13 years, then bottled from cask at 56.4% vol in 2018 & released during the Feis Ile 2018. ...
Another excellent committee release the Ardbeg 13 Year Old 2007 Fermutation Single Malt Scotch Whisky. Please note this is the US market edition & is bottled at 75cl. ...
Increasingly rare, now sadly discontinued, the Ardbeg 17 Year Old Whisky. Incredibly rich & powerful, & all too easy to drink. Last one left & some damage to the box. Nose: The gentlest of peats, yet deep & confident with an enticing sweetness a heady mixture of malts & vanillins. Vaguely salty & very complex with the oak present but very much in harness. Just a hint of bourbon & an even fainter hint of tangy orange to widen the spectrum. Palate: There is a much greater presence of peat in the taste than the nose suggests. The smokiness quickly hits the palate & then tapers off. That said, the middle shows an excellent chewy malt along side a touch of cocoa. Finish: The peat returns & guarantees an enormously long finale. The taste of the malt clings on & hints of liquorice & dry toast are detected. This form of oakiness continues but never becomes sappy or too dry as the peat balances this out beautifully. ...
