BERN MACON THIN SHELL HELMET WITH MIPS 2018 This is a boosted up version of the Macon helmet with the addition of the MIPS (Multi-Directional Impact Protection System ). The MIPS system is designed to add protection against the rotational motion (or kinematics) transmitted to the brain from angled impacts to the head. The rotational motion is a combination of rotational energy (angular velocity) & rotational forces from angular acceleration that both affect the brain & increases the risk for minor & severe brain injuries. MIPS’ added protection system has been proven to reduce the rotational motion when implemented in a helmet by absorbing & redirecting energies & forces otherwise transmitted to the brain. As most accident involve movement from multiple angles the head can get caught with the helmet causing further damage which could be reduced. MIPS helmets come with a integrated liner system which will move 10-15mm in any direction to avoid this & offer a higher level of protection. The Macon helmet has been in the Bern range & with many liner updates over the years, but keeping the same look & shape. The lightweight EPS hard foam meets EN1078 & EN 1077B standards for snow & ski, CPSC & EN 1078 standards for bike & skate.
