BERN MACON THIN SHELL HELMET WITH MIPS 2018
This is a boosted up version of the Macon helmet with the addition of the MIPS (Multi-Directional Impact Protection System ). The MIPS system is designed to add protection against the rotational motion (or kinematics) transmitted to the brain from angled impacts to the head. The rotational motion is a combination of rotational energy (angular velocity) and rotational forces from angular acceleration that both affect the brain and increases the risk for minor and severe brain injuries. MIPS’ added protection system has been proven to reduce the rotational motion when implemented in a helmet by absorbing and redirecting energies and forces otherwise transmitted to the brain. As most accident involve movement from multiple angles the head can
get caught with the helmet causing further damage which could be reduced. MIPS helmets come with a integrated liner system which will move 10-15mm in any direction to avoid this and offer a higher level of protection. The Macon helmet has been in the Bern range and with many liner updates over the years, but keeping the same look and shape. The lightweight EPS hard foam meets EN1078 and EN 1077B standards for snow and ski, CPSC and EN 1078 standards for bike and skate. The Bern Macon helmet can be used all season with the summer liners and drop in audio chips for audio too (Sold separately). The Macon helmet also uses an excellent BOA liner with BOA system closure to ensure you get the perfect fit by turning the dial on the back of the helmet which tightens the liner to your head. KEY
