BERN MACON THIN SHELL HELMET WITH MIPS 2018 This is a boosted up version of the Macon helmet with the addition of the MIPS (Multi-Directional Impact Protection System ). The MIPS system is designed to add protection against the rotational motion (or kinematics) transmitted to the brain from angled impacts to the head. The rotational motion is a combination of rotational energy (angular velocity) & rotational forces from angular acceleration that both affect the brain & increases the risk for minor & severe brain injuries. MIPS’ added protection system has been proven to reduce the rotational motion when implemented in a helmet by absorbing & redirecting energies & forces otherwise transmitted to the brain. As most accident involve movement from multiple angles the head can get caught with the helmet causing further damage which could be reduced. MIPS helmets come with a integrated liner system which will move 10-15mm in any direction to avoid this & offer a higher level of protection. You can use this helmet for all your favorite action sports; Biking, Skateboarding or snowboarding, all you have to do is to change/remove the Buffalo Plaid Hunter winter knit liner to suit the weather. The Macon helmet is very similar to the Bern Watts helmet with 13 vents but without the integrated helmet visor.
