Dysfunctional Family Counselling " In the acquisition of a new habit, or the leaving of an old one we must take care to launch ourselves with as strong & decided initiative as possible." No family consciously makes a decision to become dysfunctional & do harm to its members. However, there is a strong attraction that dwells in our memory of the past, despite its negativity, & where marriage is concerned there are often unrecognised forces at work. Through its maladaptive behaviours, this family develops a set of restrictions that inhibit the social & emotional growth of its members, particularly the children.
