The Confraternity of St James is a non-denominational registered charity founded in 1983 to promote the pilgrim routes to Santiago de Compostela & to foster research about them in Britain. In addition to publishing pocket guides to the routes it also runs two refuges for pilgrims (at Rabanal del Camino on the Camino Francés & Miraz on the Camino del Norte) as well as provides assistance to elderly, frail or disable people who might otherwise be unable to undertake the pilgrimage.
