Features on the 1898 version include St Giles church, Guildhall, St John`s church, schools, Penkhull Street, cattle market, North Staffordshire Railway Pool Dam Branch, NSR line with Newcastle station, Enderley Mill, Brampton Mills, Castlehill Foundry (disused), Waterloo Works, isolation hospital, militia barracks, Kingsfield Pottery, Harpfield Tileries, tramway, St Mark`s church Basford, part of Stoke Workhouse (at foot of map), Newcastle under Lyme Canal, chapels, etc. Features on the 1877 map are broadly similar, but the town is slightly less built-up.
