A personal account of thirty-eight years of walking, climbing, mountaineering & ski-mountaineering in Britain, the Alps & farther afield written by Rupert Hoare. Born in 1956 & educated at Winchester College & Exeter University, he spent his career in oil exploration, working for Seismograph Service Limited, LASMO & Western Geco. A former president of the London Mountaineering Club & the Alpine Ski Club, he married Jay Turner in 1996 & they lived in Aberdeenshire. Rupert was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in January 2011.
