Includes:: Lugano, Locarno with the northern part of Lake Maggiore, & the Mendrisiotto area south of Lake Lugano. The cartography provides an excellent picture of the terrain through contours at 25-metre intervals enhanced by shading, graphic relief for exposed rock, & colouring for glaciers & woodlands. All local footpaths are on the maps, but the overprint specifically highlights 33 trails selected by the publishers in collaboration with Geo-tracks. The colouring of each trail indicates the degree of fitness needed, from “no physical shape required” to “extremely high level of physical fitness necessary”. The trails start near a railway station or a bus stop (the colouring of the road network indicates routes with public transport & locations of individual bus stops). The maps have the lines of the Swiss national grid at 1-km intervals. On the reverse each trail has a route profile, its grading according to severity of the terrain & the degree of fitness required to attempt it, details of length & approximate timing, the change in altitude on assent & descent, plus a brief description. Contours are at 20m intervals. An overprint highlights routes maintained by the SHF, distinguishing between hiking routes, mountain routes requiring proper footwear, & alpine routes where equipment is needed. Paths which are part of the national or regional network of long-distance hiking routes are specially marked & in the more recent editions are annotated with their official numbers. The administrative region (oblast) of Lugansk / Luhansk in western Ukraine along its border with Russia on a detailed, indexed road map at 1:250, 000 from Kartografija in Kiev, with an English language map legend & street plans of central Lugansk & Alchevsk. All place names are in the Cyrillic alphabet only. The map presents the province divided between the two sides of the sheet with a small overlap. Maps in this series present the road network in great detail, from international roads, shown with their E numbers, to dirt roads & country paths. Driving distances are marked on main, secondary & selected local roads; the maps also show border crossings, fuel stations, car service stations, & traffic patrol service points. Railway lines are shown with stations & local airports are marked. The maps also show boundaries of districts into which each region (oblast) is subdivided, & indicate their administrative headquarters.
