Greece at 1:1, 491, 000 on a wall map, size 77 x 60cm (30” x 24” approx) – encapsulated version, from the National Geographic Society in their traditional classic style with a light base & country boundaries outlined in colour. All place names are shown in the Latin alphabet only, using in most cases current Greek versions with the traditional or historical English equivalents in brackets, e.g. Sparti (Sparta), Iraklio (Candia), Mikines (Mycenae), Olimbos (Olympus), etc. Boundaries of internal administrative region are marked, with a separate list showing their Greek & English names & regional capitals. The map shows the network of main roads & railways, airports & ferry routes between the mainland & the islands. Topography is indicated by light relief shading, with spot heights & graphics for swamp areas. National parks are highlighted. Latitude & longitude lines are drawn at 1° intervals.* This map is also available on paper without the encapsulation.*LAMINATED & ENCAPSULATED WALL MAPS:*- *laminated* wall maps have a thin layer of plastic usually applied to the printed side only. They can be written on with suitable marker pens without any damage to the map but, unless laminated on both sides, they are not damp-proof.- *encapsulated* wall maps are sealed between two sheets of plastic. They are more rigid & heavier than laminated maps of the same size. They are damp-proof & do not crinkle in humid conditions. Encapsulation gives the map a shiny surface, similar to being displayed behind glass.- *please note:* many publishers & retailers often use these two terms interchangeably. Our map titles & descriptions follow the definitions provided above.
