A detailed topographic map of Dereham & Aylsham from the Ordnance Survey Explorer series, covering Castle Acre & Reepham. Edition A2; Publication date April 2012 About this series: These highly detailed maps show all the administrative boundaries, settlements as small as isolated farms, the road network down to unfenced roads & country tracks, & field boundaries (hedges & drystone walls) which make navigation across the countryside much easier. Steep gradients on roads are indicated. Various landmarks, e.g. powerlines, archaeological sites, windmills, churches & lighthouses are shown & additional graphics indicate natural terrain features such as cliffs, scree, mud & vegetation variations. The contour interval is 5 metres in the lower parts of the country & 10 metres in the uplands, & spot heights are marked. Each map covers an area of 30 x 20km (i.e. approx. 19 x 12 miles), with some double-sided maps covering more, as indicated in the individual descriptions. The maps are fully GPS compatible, with the National Grid shown at 1km intervals & latitude & longitude indicated by margin ticks at 1'. The Explorer series has replaced the earlier, green-cover Pathfinder maps. The Explorer series is now complete & covers all of Engl&, Wales & Scotl&. Some sheets for popular areas like the National Parks are still branded as Outdoor Leisure (OL) maps, but are now included in this series as the cartography is the same as that in the Explorer Maps. The Explorer maps offer a substantial improvement on the Pathfinder series, with greater use of colour, larger area per map, & stronger emphasis on information for ramblers & tourists. This series is ideal for walking & other outdoor pursuits & each map shows a large amount of information for ramblers & tourists. Public rights of way are shown (except in Scotland), together with other routes with public access: National Trails & Recreational Paths, permitted paths & bridleways, & selected cycle routes. Open access land created under the Countryside & Rights of Way Act 2000 is marked. Tourist information

Includes::
caravan & camp sites, Park & Ride locations, recreation/leisure/sport centres, museums, historic buildings, English Heritage & National Trust sites, rural pubs, etc. The map legend is in English only, except for the tourist information content which is also in French & German.

Derek Jarman's Garden is the last book Jarman ever wrote. It is a fitting memorial to a brilliant & greatly loved artist & film maker who, against all odds, made a breathtaking garden in the most inhospitable of places the flat, bleak, often desolate expanse of shingle overlooked by the Dungeness nuclear power station. Here is Jarmans own record of how the garden evolved, from its earliest beginnings in 1986 to the last year of his life. More than 150 photographs by his friend Howard Sooley capture the garden at all its different stages & at every season of the year, revealing its complex geometrical plan, magical stone circles & the beautiful & bizarre sculptures. We also catch glimpses of Jarman at work on the garden. This beautiful book will appeal to all those who love gardens & gardening, as well as the legions of admirers of this extraordinary man. ...

In Derelict London, Paul Talling lists 100 of the capital’s most interesting, curious & eye-catching derelict buildings, from the deservedly discarded tower blocks to the scandalously neglected architectural gems. As well as more famous curiosities
- Second World War defences, the former tube station with a Hollywood history & the inescapable silhouette of Battersea power station
- the book lists many smaller, hidden & often more tragic edifices, including old dock complexes, pubs, cinemas, public bathhouses, & even sex shops. Perfect for anyone with an interest in London’s complex social, industrial & commercial history, the book gives each entry a two-page spread, with photography & a brief description of the history & current fortunes of each of these relics of the past.

Derek Jarman`s Garden

Derek Jarman created his own garden in the flat, bleak expanse of shingle that faces the nuclear power station in Dungeness, Kent. A passionate gardener from childhood, he combined his painter`s eye, his horticultural expertise and his ecological convictions to produce a landscape which mixed the flint, shells and driftwood of Dungeness; sculptures made from stones; the area`s indigenous plants; and shrubs and flowers introduced by Jarman himself. This book, the last he ever wrote, is his own record of how this garden evolved, from its beginnings in 1985 to the day of his death in 1994.
