Product Description

China on an overview map from Periplus, accompanied by enlargements of the regions around the capital, Shanghai & the Pearl River Delta, plus street plans of central Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Suzhou & Hangzhou. On one side is a general map of China at 1:8, 000, 000 showing the country’s networks of main road & rail connections, as well as its administrative divisions with names of the provinces. Topography is presented by altitude colouring with names of mountain ranges, etc. Main tourist sights are highlighted. The map is accompanied by three enlargements: Beijing area at 1:500, 000, Shanghai area at 1:1, 000, 000, plus the Pearl River Delta with Guangzhou, Hong Kong & Macau at 1:1, 000, 000, all highlighting more places of interest. The main map has latitude & longitude lines at intervals of 5°; the enlargements show no geographical coordinates. No indexes of place names are provided. On the reverse, five main cities: Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Suzhou & Hangzhou, have street plans of their central areas, annotated with numerous places of interest, hotels, etc. Scales vary from 1:70, 000 for Shanghai to 1:30, 000 for Hangzhou, so does the presentation of place names from most in dual script on the Beijing plan to mainly transliterated for Guangzhou. None of the plans of maps are indexed.
