Oslo, 1969. When a wealthy man collapses & dies during a dinner party, Norwegian Police Inspector Kolbjorn Kristiansen, known as K2, is left shaken. For the victim, Magdalon Schelderup, a multimillionaire businessman & former resistance fighter, had contacted him only the day before, fearing for his life. It soon becomes clear that every one of Schelderup`s ten dinner guests is a suspect in the case. The businessman was disliked, even despised, by many of those close to him; & his recently revised Will may have set events in motion. But which of the guests
- from his current & former wives & three children to his attractive secretary & old cohorts in the resistance
- had the greatest motive for murder? With the inestimable help of Patricia
- a brilliant, acerbic young woman who lives an isolated life at home, in her wheelchair
- K2 begins to untangle the lies & deceit within each of the guests` testimonies. But as the investigators receive one mysterious letter after another warning of further deaths, K2 realises he must race to uncover the killer. Before they strike again.. .A gripping, evocative & ingenious mystery which pays homage to Agatha Christie, Satellite People is the second Norwegian mystery in Hans Olav Lahlum`s series. The third, The Catalyst Killing, will follow soon.. .

The 1:50 000 topographic map gives a more general picture of the ground features than a basic map. It shows settlements, houses, roads, cultivated areas, waterways, cutting areas, mires, rock exposures, & relief. One map sheet covers an area of 30 x 40 km & one centimetre corresponds to 500 metres on the ground. The 1:50, 000 topographic map is also an ideal complement to nautical charts as it provides useful information about the land areas adjacent to waterways. For example, all Finnish sea areas are covered by 1:50 000 topographic map sheets. ...

Saturday

Saturday, February 15, 2003. Henry Perowne is a contented man - a successful neurosurgeon, the devoted husband of Rosalind and proud father of two grown-up children. Unusually, he wakes before dawn, drawn to the window of his bedroom and filled with a growing unease. What troubles him as he looks out at the night sky is the state of the world - the impending war against Iraq, a gathering pessimism since 9/11, and a fear that his city and his happy family life are under threat. Later, Perowne makes his way to his weekly squash game through London streets filled with hundreds of thousands of anti-war protestors. A minor car accident brings him into a confrontation with Baxter, a fidgety, aggressive, young man, on the edge of violence. To Perowne`s professional eye, there appears
to be something profoundly wrong with him. Towards the end of a day rich in incident and filled with Perowne`s celebrations of life`s pleasures, his family gathers for a reunion. But with the sudden appearance of Baxter, Perowne`s earlier fears seem about to be realised.
