
Mount Elbrus & its south-eastern environs on a topographic survey map at 1:100, 000 from one of the Russian Army Cartographic Units with all place names in the Cyrillic alphabet & map legend in Russian only. Contour lines are at 20m intervals, with peak heights & graphics for rocky outcrops, snow covered or exposed ice fields, etc. Colouring shows glaciers & forested areas. The map shows local roads in the Baksan/ Azau valley, cart tracks & foot paths, as well as other information usually found on topographic survey maps at this scale: settlements & individual buildings, bridges, electricity transmission lines, etc. The map has no geographical coordinates. All place names are in the Cyrillic alphabet. Map legend & the text are in Russian only. All topographic information extends across the border to Georgia. Also provided, in Russian, are a table showing the chill factor for various combinations of temperature & wind speed, international codes for conveying information to mountain rescue services, & other drawings with advice on basic first aid.
