Five years after the initial publication of Worldchanging, the landscape of environmentalism & sustainability has changed dramatically. The average reader is now well-versed-and sometimes inundated-with green lifestyle advice. Buying organic is old news for those who are watching urban farms sprout up in their neighborhoods. Recycling seems quaint when the buzz is about creating zero waste societies. In 2011, green is the starting point, not the destination. This second edition of the bestselling book is extensively revised to include the latest trends & statistics. More than 160 new entries include up-to-the-minute information on the locavore movement, carbon-neutral homes, novel transportation solutions, the growing trend of eco-tourism, the concept of food justice, & much more. Additional new sections focus on the role of cities as the catalyst for change in our society. With 50% new material, this edition incorporates the most recent studies & projects being implemented worldwide. The end result is a guided tour through the most exciting new tools, models, & ideas for building a better future. ...

” World Climbing: Rock Odyssey”, the welcomed sequel to Simon Carter`s award-winning ” World Climbing: Images from the Edge”, presents the finest images by one of the world`s foremost climbing photographers. ” Rock Odyssey” is a photographic essay which follows modern day rock climbers to far flung reaches of the world where they attempt the routes of their dreams. A visual feast for its passengers, ” Rock Odyssey” takes us on a breathtaking voyage stopping at sixteen exceptional rock climbing destinations. From the wild interior of Madagascar, Simon Carter gives us an eagle`s view high up on the Tsaranoro Massif. Off the coast of Vietnam, he explores limestone karsts jutting from the glistening emerald-green waters of Ha Long Bay. Over on the Greek isle of Kalymnos, he navigates us through the bewildering three dimensional tufa jungles. The Dolomite`s wild alpine rock, Montserrat`s crazy cobblestone towers & The Darran`s Jurassic wilderness are just some of the other highlights along this spectacular circumnavigation of the globe. ” Rock Odyssey” is a celebration of Simon Carter`s vision to capture the dizzying feats of climbers doing what they love most. Carter has captured elusive moments, seamlessly merging landscape with action & magically animating his images with untrumpable natural light. Through Carter`s lens, the extraordinary rock architecture of the world`s classics crags become the stage, an arena, where climbers contest their own mental & physical battles. Barriers are broken, boundaries are pushed, dreams are lived, &, sometimes, summits are bagged. Chapter introductions written by leading Australian climber Monique Forestier, set the scene & give delightful insights into the unique attractions of each area. ...
