North Veluwe on a waterproof, tear-resistant, GPS compatible walking map at 1:25, 000 from Trage Paden, in a series of maps with extensive overprint for long-distance & local walking routes. GPS waypoints & route profiles are available for download from the publisher’s website. Contours used in this map series vary between 2, 5 to 5m according to the terrain, with 5m interval predominantly used for hilly areas. Varied colouring show different types of landscape: woods, vineyards, fields etc. An overprint highlights both the national long-distance walking routes & the shorter local circular trails, each clearly identified by a code and/or an abbreviation of its name. Recommended starting points for walks are designated by a symbol. Cycle lanes are visibly marked with a bike symbol; roads with heavy traffic are clearly indicated. Map legend & all the accompanying text include Welsh. Maps is this Sustrans series show all the National & Regional Cycle Network routes clearly numbered & have the colouring distinguishing between the on-road & traffic-free sections. The publishers’ own recommendations are shown in contrasting colour &, in most titles, are in addition presented on the reverse side on separate panels where each circuit is annotated with useful notes. The maps have contours & altitude colouring to show the topography, with additional gradient markings. Towns along the routes are annotated with symbols indicating what facilities can be found there. A New & Correct Map Of North Wales, an original antique map by R. Morden / Anonymous, published in London, 1722-. Copperplate, coloured. Map size 43 x 36 cm, overall mounted size 59 x 52 cm. Following the appearance in 1695 of Morden's map of Wales there were complaints of errors & omissions. This is the new & corrected plate of 1722
- based on Morden's. Although anonymous, the style of engraving very much resembles that of Andrew Johnston who created new maps of Scotland for this edition. Robert Morden (d.1703) was commissioned to engrave a set of county maps for Edmund Gibson's new edition. Morden's first series of maps were rejected as being too small, & these were laterpublished in Morden's New Description & State of Engl&, first issued in 1701, & subsequently re-issued in Cox's Magna Britannia, in the 1720s. Morden finally produced a new set of maps on a larger scale which were used in Gibson's editions published in 1695, 1722, circa 1730, 1753 1772, as here. The maps were based on the most up-to-date surveys where available, although some drew on Saxton & Speed, & were engraved by Sutton Nicholls & John Sturt. Map size 41 x 35 cm, with a mount size of 57 x 49.5 cm.A detailed nineteenth-century map of North Wales that was published in the atlas, The British Gazetteer, Political, Commercial, Ecclesiastical, & Historical.. . in 1852. These lithograph maps bear the imprint of H.G. Collins in Paternoster Row & show accurate geographical detail, including the expanding railway network, surrounded by a floral border. The maps are lithographic version of Robert Rowe's county maps that were published from engraved copperplates between 1814 & 1842. Collins also published these lithograph versions in 1848 in the New British Atlas & they were subsequently reused by Phillips in his County Atlas.. . in the 1860s
