Small size cloth-backed version of a reproduction by Old Folding Maps of Edward Mogg`s “ Stranger`s Guide to London, Exhibiting all the various Alterations & Improvements complete to the Present Time” published in January 1837. The map shows London with “a list of 500 of the principal places with references to their situation on the above plan”. Main streets & green spaces are coloured in, & the map also shows the boundary of the City of London. Coverage roughly: most of Regent’s Park

- Hackney; Stepney – Surrey Docks; Kennington including part of The Oval; Royal Chelsea Hospital – most of Hyde Park. A h&-written note in the north-west margin “ Dorset Square, I have marked +, it is in this corner” add a personal touch from one of the map’s previous users. Each cloth-backed individual map is presented folded in a colourful case covered with a unique design marbled paper – no two cases are identical. Australia at 1:4, 250, 000 in a series of Adventure maps from the National Geographic Society with cartography provided by Reise Know-How. The map is double-sided and printed on light waterproof and tear-resistant synthetic paper. Cartographic information provided by Reise Know-How has been adjusted to follow the house style of the NGS Adventure series with greater emphasis on the country’s topography. Altitude colouring in broader bands has been replaced here by contours at 200m intervals and relief shading. National parks and other protected areas as well as Aboriginal lands are prominently highlighted.The map has a generous overlap between the sides. Principal highways and many local roads and outback tracks are named, with driving distances shown on main routes. Railway lines are
included and local airports are marked. The map indicates various places of interest, has latitude and longitude grid at intervals of 4° and is indexed.Overall, the NGS map presents a more vivid picture of the country’s topography, whilst the original RK-H version provides clearer information for touring the country by road or rail.PLEASE NOTE: to ensure regular supplies and faster delivery to our customers we keep as regular stock the Reise Know-How edition whilst the NGS version can be ordered on request.
