A tragedy brings together two strangers in this independent drama from director Travis Fine Montine Mc Leod (Melissa Leo) is a forty-something flight attendant who is increasingly unhappy with her life; her mother is in the latter stages of Alzheimer's Disease her brother is a minister whose congregation has turned their back on him & she's been relying on alcohol to deal with the stress of her job & her family Montine has developed a short temper & is on thin ice with her employers for telling off passengers & she feels like she's about to explode when she has to look after a ten-year-old boy Omar Hassan (Anthony Keyvan) who is flying on his own to a boarding school where he's won a scholarship However Montine's attitude changes with the space of a few hours; it's September 11 2001 the flight Montine is working is grounded in Texas & Omar is shocked when he hears that the World Trade Center was attacked since his father works there as a janitor Unable to fly & not sure what else to do Montine offers to drive Omar to New York City in the hope they can find his dad & en route two people with almost nothing in common learn a great deal about one another
