In the dark & musty cellar worshipers are passing around artifacts The light is dim so you can’t quite make out the artifacts you are passing around However further away in the distance you get a glimpse of what others are holding You can see the effect these magical artifacts are having on their bearers You will need to deduce what you’re holding by studying the other worshipers Preserve your sanity & escape from the ritual alive! Game Play Overview In Arkham Ritual you don’t see the card you are holding Instead you see the cards other players are holding You must guess the card you are holding by looking at other players’ cards & the cards that have already been played The game is played over multiple rounds where each round consists of multiple turns During each turn one player draws the top card of the deck looks at it & passes it to another player The player who receives the card has a choice either to a) discard the card he she is holding face up & take the new card without looking at it or b) pass the card to another player without looking at it After a player takes a turn another player takes his her turn The round continues until one of the round end conditions is met at which point all players reveal their cards At this time if you are holding a cursed (red) card then the card corrupts your mind & you lose your sanity If you are holding a sane (blue) artifact card but some other players are also holding the same artifact card (regardless of their color) the artifacts create an unpleasant resonance corrupts your mind & you will lose your sanity You successfully survive the ritual only if you are holding a unique sane (blue) card Players lose their sanity by discarding sanity markers New rounds continue until one or more players have lost all their sanity markers All players who still have sanity markers survive the ritual Will you successfully investigate the ritual & come out alive!? In Arkwright players run up to four factories in England during the late 18th Century Your goal is to have the most valuable block of own shares Thus you must increase your share value & buy shares from the bank To run the factories you need workers When hiring Workers demand is automatically created But of course you want to replace your expensive workers (wage 2-5) by machines (1) To have more output from your factories you may employ new Workers or improve your factory to the next technical level You fix the price for your goods during an action round To enhance your chances of selling goods you improve your factories to higher levels increase the quality & make some sales promotion The higher these factors the better are your chances of success
- the higher the price the lower Each player has an own set of "action tokens" like "build & modernize factories" "employ new workers" "improve quality" etc On your turn you place one of those tokens on one of the free spaces in your line of the " Administration board" & pay the according administration costs ranging from 2 to 10 (odd numbers) Some actions depend on how much you paid ie you may buy more machines with one single action when you pay more (use a higher space which is then blocked for the rest of the round) During the game your actions become more & more effective by new tokens ie allow you to buy 3 machines in a single turn instead of 2 increase quality 2 levels instead of only 1) After each round of actions one kind of factories is active & you have to pay for all your workers & machines there then sell the manufactured products The value of your shares increases for sold products & best quality Goods may also be traded to the colonies by ship
