The R1 is the latest complete bike from Kinesis UK, following on the success of the G2 complete gravel bike & heavily influenced by our award winning Kinesis RTD & 4S road frames. The R1 is a 1x road bike aimed riders of all abilities & experiences. With the MTB & Cyclocross bikes now firmly entrenched with 1x & the burgeoning Gravel scene going the same way, we’ve seen many road riders experimenting & using 1x Road set ups, including many members of the Kinesis UK Team. The R1 is aimed at the cyclist craving simplicity, reliability & the capability a 1x drivetrain can offer: in short a bike they can just get on & ride & have fun. The R1 would make a great everyday road bike with an easy-to-use & easy-to-maintain drivetrain for their commute, their spins into the countryside & their trip to cafe. With this in mind we have specified the R1 with true ride-anywhere gear ratios, more than enough for the steepest climbs & the fastest descent. We’ve also specified room for a 30c tyre with full mudguards, & mounts for a pannier rack. The R1 features our Kinesis Rider Fit Geometry to give better fit & more consistent handling for a wider range of riders. The smallest size has a semi sloping top tube for greater seat post extension increasing the comfort. Longer reaches (recommended for use with shorter stems) mean there is less toe overlap on the smaller sizes & improves the handling on the larger sizes eliminating the need to run a long stem to achieve the correct fit.

The Racelight 4S Disc Frameset. For 2015 the ultimate Winter bike gets the ultimate upgrade with the addition of disc brake mounts, internal cable routing & a brand new carbon fork to match. Disc brakes really come into their own on the grimy wet roads that this winter bike has to endure, & coupled with up to a 32mm tyre & full mudguards it makes life a little easier for the rider too! The inboard disc caliper mount is the new Shimano flat mount standard & is very minimal. This frame has been designed to be built with either disc or caliper brakes so you can use current non disc wheels & caliper brakes & upgrade to disc later…or run caliper brakes in the Summer & discs in the Winter maybe…it’s down to you. The dropouts are adaptable between 130mm QR & 135mm QR by means of our Kinesis dropout adaptors, keeping all options open. The new full Carbon fork is specially designed for this model to run either disc or caliper brakes & features the discreet flat mount with hose clip, eyelets for mudguards & a caliper brake mount in the crown. The tapered steerer provides plenty of stiffness to cope with the disc brake forces & keeps everything tracking & handling as nicely as before.
