If cheap is key when you’re selecting a hotel, consider the Fortuna Luna when visiting Prague. It’s located in a suburb outside the city centre, which you can reach in about 30 minutes – ten minutes’ walk to the Metro station followed by 15-20 minutes’ train ride. More a hostel than a hotel, be prepared for a blast from the past upon check-in. Bedrooms are minimalistic – just a bed and TV – and decorated in a 70’s style. In many cases, a bathroom is shared between two bedrooms, but there are 25 bedrooms with private showers. The hotel is adequate if all you need is a really cheap place to crash. There’s a quirky elevator on-site, which seems to have a mood of its own (working sporadically), so this hotel is not recommended for those with limited mobility. Good news if you can’t do without your daily dose of Internet. Free Wi-Fi throughout! So you won’t have to go cold turkey.

There are four restaurants, including a rustic beer tavern and a Viennese coffee shop on the ground floor with the main dining room on the first floor. The hotel is a large modern tower block located just off one of the main roads out of Prague. From the large car park outside, a small flight of steps leads up to the large spacious lobby. The lobby is very large and open plan with a number of seating areas, bars, and lifts all leading off from the main reception area. The corridors and public areas are clean and functional, not luxurious, but newly renovated.
