This panel formed part of an altarpiece which had as its central panel a ' Virgin & Child Enthroned' (now in the church of the Filippini, Padua, though not painted for that church). The saints are identified by the inscriptions beneath them & by their attributes. The Gothic arcading behind the figures & the cusped plinth upon which they stand relate to the architecture of the Virgin's throne. The triptych was perhaps originally in the church of S.
