The Open sensors can be mounted using either the included screws or double sided adhesive. Suitable uses include doors, windows, cupboards, fridges, garage doors, cabinets & drawers – anywhere there are two elements which open & close creating a gap between surfaces. The sensor is powered by a single AAA battery, included, which will last for eighteen months assuming 24 activations per day; longer if there are less activations. When installing the battery for the first time you should pair the device with the Gateway using either the App or web browser. This only needs to be done once & should take only a few seconds. Full settings can be accessed through the web portal, including time delays, actions & battery status. The App will report any activation of the sensor & low battery warnings as push notifications. Use IFTTT to connect the sensor to other Mi Home devices such as sockets, switches & adapters (available to buy separately).
