He debuted the car on March 5th 1978 at Brands Hatch & raced it twenty-eight times during the season; winning three races outright & scoring an amazing twenty-five class victories. The Marshall/ Sprint combination was so dominant in 1978 that during a race at Donington he came into the pits only to tell his worried crew that he had “…stopped to let the rest catch up a bit”, before storming out of the pits to score another win. ...

Triumph entered three Spitfires for the 1964 Alpine Rally, the car’s rally debut. All were fitted with aluminium panels, Vitesse close-ratio gearboxes, hardtops, & aluminium cylinder heads. Initially they performed well, however a car driven by a Belgian tourist crashed into Jean-Jacques Thuner & John Gretener’s car, whilst Roy Fidler & Don Grimshaw’s blew its engine, leaving only Terry Hunter & Patrick Lier. They had an almost perfect rally, however, they were held a little too long at the Entreveux service halt & the team then slightly underestimated a section time, meaning the pair missed out on a coveted ‘ Coupe des Alpes’ by one minute. ...

Corgi Vanguards Subaru Legacy 2000cc Turbo -1992 1000 Lakes Rally - Air Vatanen The Legacy was the first rally Subaru developed by Dave Richardss Banbury based Prodrive concern and 1992 was the year both car and team became true contenders. Richards had won the World Rally Championship as Vatanens co-driver in 1982 and hired his friend to lead the team. Vatanen proved he had lost none of his speed and was denied two likely victories in New Zealand and Australia by mechanical failures. A second in the season closing RAC Rally was the years best result but a fine fourth place on his home event in Finland, only 2min 32secs behind Auriols winning Lancia, was the most impressive.
