Corgi Vanguards Austin A40 Farina MK1 Zoe
- 1959 Monte Carlo Rally, Winner Ladies Prize, Pat Moss & Ann Wisdom Pat Moss & Ann Wisdom gave the A40 its international rallying debut on the 1959 Monte Carlo Rally & Pat christened the car, XOE 778, ‘ Zoe’. Their only major problem was when the Weber carburettor’s manifold fractured near Chalons; Ann got out to look, & initially had some difficulty convincing Pat that the carburettor had fallen off. They were able to push ‘ Zoe’ to a garage whose English proprietress woke her mechanic to weld the aluminium-alloy casting. The repair held &, as well as winning ‘ The Ladies Prize’, the pair finished tenth overall, second in class, & won the ‘ Concours’ RAC Challenge Trophy. Pat Moss often gave her cars names, the two other A40s were known as Zokky & Alf, whilst she also rallied a Morris Minor called Granny. Zoe has been restored to her former glory & is often seen at classic car events in the care of her enthusiastic owner Adrian Boyd.
