Heading along Southampton Waters you get a superb view of the estuary as it widens out into the Solent. This is also where the ferries operating the Southampton to East Cowes are routed so don’t be surprised if you find yourselves playing in the wake of the big boats!

As Cowes & East Cowes come into view you’ll see why Cowes is synonymous with sailing & boating. This is the home of the famous Cowes Week sailing regatta which is one of the longest-running in the world hosting up to 1000 boats every August for races & events.

Product Description

You'll be in the wild but just steps away from civilisation during this taster session in bushcraft in Yorkshire! The venues for this course are Hazlewood Castle near Leeds or Ripley Castle just outside Harrogate. Both are very elegant & grand houses boasting landscaped gardens but beyond all that you'll find yourself with acres & acres of woodland wilderness to explore with your bushcraft expert.

On these outdoor workshops there's none of that gnarly commando style stuff these sessions are more about getting out in the fresh air & opening your eyes to what tasty things good old Mother Nature can provide for you for free.

So what bushcrafting skills will you be learning in Yorkshire? The two basic things you need to survive are shelter & fire so these are your missions for today. First up is building yourself a little refuge. No chance of sneaking off to the hotel for a siesta so get ready to grapple for branches ferns & leaves to construct what would keep you nice & snug if you were spending a night under the stars. Add in a bit of tarp some knot tying skills & hey presto
- your shelter perfect if you're caught in any Yorkshire rain.

Your bushcraft teaching continues with fire. We've probably all secretly tried (and failed) to get a flame by rubbing sticks together so thankfully the pros are on the case to show you the tricks of the survival trade. Add in a bit of flint & some steel you might well have yourself a friction fire to keep you warm in that little forest clearing.

& of course whilst you're living the life of a bush crafter in Yorkshire don't forget at the Leeds location there's always the wonderful Hazlewood Castle hotel restaurant or over near Harrogate's Ripley Castle their tearoom is just a stone's through away so once your bushcraft in Yorkshire is done you can always pop in for a hot toddy & a bite to eat if all that outdoor activity has left you hungry. Brilliant fun for all the family that'll see you doing something totally different with your free time!
