So you will need courage & driver skill if you're going to get the best out of this Porsche GT2 experience! You will be driving a 996 generation Porsche 911 GT2. Produced by Porsche to be a race-ready GT car that could be bought off the shelf this is a 996 that has been given a serious makeover. For starters the usual Porsche all wheel drive has gone. That means the GT2 is lighter (and therefore faster) & it also means it's rear wheel drive which is a whole different ball game when it comes to handling. Add to that a twin turbocharged 3.6l engine with those upgraded brakes suspension air intakes & huge rear wheel spoiler & the GT2 is the angry cousin of the 996. Even the nose has been more aggressively styled aiding the drag coefficient & reflecting the extra 'bite' this car has at the same time. & it can be seriously snappy. With the only driver aid you get being ABS taking this rear wheel drive beast out on the track will be the scariest yet most thrilling drive you've had. No wonder they nicknamed the Porsche GT2 the widowmaker. This is the car where you are traction control
- there's nothing else to help you tame this car! Slide into the body-hugging seats & you'll feel nicely cocooned. The driving position is ergonomically engaging as you'd expect from Porsche. Look at the dashboard & you'll see it's the rev counter that is the largest most dominantly-placed dial right in front of you. We think that says something about what driving a Porsche GT2 is all about. After sighting laps in a performance car with an instructor driving you get 4 or 8 laps in the superlative Porsche GT2 around the circuit where this car performs at its best. Things start nice & gently with a cruise out of the Camel Estuary on which Padstow sits then your tour in this powerful boat literally steps up a gear as you are on the open seas & Ian hits the throttle. Skimming across the waters it's a case of spray in your face screeches of delight & a proper bouncy ride
- no wonder there are large bars in front of you to hold on to! You'll whizz around this astonishingly beautiful coastline with a heading towards Port Isaac. Port Isaac is instantly recognisable as the location where hit TV show Dr Martin is filmed & is also where scenes for the classic Poldark series were shot. It's picture postcard pretty & rather lovely to look at from the sea for a very different perspective of this quintessential little village that is much like Padstow a mix of tourism & fishing. Slowing the boat down your tour guide & driver Ian will tell you all about the history along with some fascinating facts too. Then it's about turn to set off on the return leg of your boat trip back to Padstow. Once again it's a brilliant mix of speedy boat riding & seaside views as you head back into port. & if you & your fellow passengers are up for it (and there isn't too much sea swell) Ian is always obliging when it comes to pulling off a few sharp turns that are way more of an adrenaline rush than your average theme park ride! If you want to make it a personal party on the waves go for the charter option that gives you the boat skippered by Ian for an hour exclusive to you. This means that once beyond Padstow harbour you can decide where to send the boat on your very own private tour. We think this Padstow boat tour is the perfect way to spend an hour discovering the coastline hearing about the history of the area & of course generally 'having it' zipping around in this seriously fast boat appropriately called Ocean Voyager. & yes you will get wet but that's all part of the fun!

Go Powerboating In Sunderland! This thrilling taster experience takes place on the waters off Roker Beach just north of Sunderland city centre. Easy to get to easy to park & with really good club house facilities on the waterfront this is a great venue to go to that'll see you getting a feel of what it's like to be a power boat pilot. This powerboating school is based at the Marine Activities Centre on the Sunderland beachfront & is a Royal Yachting Association (RYA) approved training centre which means all the power boat instructor drivers are fully qualified to take you out on the water. Once you've cruised out of the restricted harbour area into the open waters of the North Sea you'll be able to see just what these agile boats can do as you open up the throttle & power through those waves.
