With such beautiful countryside all around these microlight flights over Bath are certainly going to be scenic! Hop onboard for that 'at one with nature' feel to your flying when you take an open-cockpit microlight lesson at this private airfield near Bath. Just a few miles south of the tourist hot-spot that is Bath you'll find the delightful Norton St Philip. Unashamedly rural the area is very much agricultural with a distinctive village feel. Right on the periphery of it all is the Brown Shutters Farm. Hidden behind the farmstead is a very small & very discreet private airstrip
- & this is where you'll be going microlighting. Local legend has it that the dual grass runway airfield was created by a Mr Newbigin in 1988 to house his beloved Tiger Moth. Today the airfield is still in private ownership with a small select gathering of aviation enthusiasts using Brown Shutters airfield. One of those aviators is Brad. He's massively passionate about flying his microlights over the...

From the East Coast to the West Coast microlighting out of Kinross gives you the full view of Scotland's coastline from the air! A new dimension opens up when you soar over this lovely corner of Perth & Kinross in an agile little microlight. Prepare yourself for perfect panoramas with these microlight flights. Taking off from Balado Park (perhaps you knew it as the home of 'T in the Park' for many years?) within literally seconds you have amazing things to to look. There's the former satellite ground station right at the heart of the airfield the original war time hangers & control tower whilst on the horizon you'll see the likes of Loch Leven & the Lomond Hills. It's little wonder then that the team here at Kinross recommends you bring a camera along with you for your flight. You get an excellent viewpoint from the cockpit of a microlight so it's possible to take some great snaps as you fly
- brilliant if you live in the Perth & Kinross as it's rare to see it all from above! It's a small & friendly crew here at Balado Park. The academy's offices are in the restored control tower & there's a warm & welcoming pilot's lounge where the kettle is always on for a brew. Friends & family will love it too as they can climb the exterior steps to the viewing platform at the top of the tower to look out across the whole airfield -ideal for watching your take off & landing. Before you head out to the apron you'll be kitted out with a headset a flying suit & given gloves if it's going to be a bit chilly up there even if the microlights based at Kinross do have closed cockpits as the weather several thousand feet heigh can be very different to on the ground at the same moment. During the pre-flight briefing you'll chat about safety & what you're hoping to get out of your flight; that's to say whether you want it to take the form of an actual lesson or you want to fly over a specific area so you can see it from the air. We think Scotland's Balado Park is a lovely place to fly out of in a microlight. We are offering 30 minute flights. Book microlighting in Kinross & make a budding Scottish aviator very happy!

Go flexwing microlighting Somerset style with coast countryside national parks & famous landmarks everywhere you look! Westonzoyland Airfield is your departure point for these microlighting flights over Somerset
- & it's a fascinating place in the heart of a picturesque county. Having opened in the early 1920s Westonzoyland is one of the country's oldest airfields. It has served as both RAF & USAAF air bases when the skies around the airfield were filled with the sound of Spitfires Hurricanes & Harvards during the Second World War. Since closing in 1968 the airfield has been returned to agricultural use & main runway has been turned back into the main road through the area…but in amongst all that there's still a very active microlighting presence! You'll be getting airborne in Somerset with microlight man Andy Buchan. He loves his light aviation & has been flying longer than he'd care to admit. He's massively qualified too as he is a BMAA (British Microlight Aircraf...

Book your flights in microlights over south Somerset! Operating out of the lovely Henstridge Airfield we are offering 30 45 & 60-minute flights as well as a landaway special to the Isle of Wight via the coast.

These microlight experiences boast quite possibly the most scenic flight paths we have on our books. There’s just so much to see from the air around this delightful corner of south Somerset. Head inland & you’ve got Longleat & the Wiltshire Hills. Fly west & you can look down on the Somerset Levels & Glastonbury Tor. Take a southerly direction & you’re soon at the Jurassic Coast.

The amazing scenery & optimal flying conditions are also what attracted Chief Flying Instructor Ian Mac Adam to set up his microlight flying school at Henstridge. Ian has been flying hang gliders & microlights since 1987 & he settled in South Somerset in 2002.

Since 2007 Ian has been a main agent for leading flex-wing microlight manufacturer P&M. If you go for the flex-wing option you’ll more than likely be taking your lesson in one of the school’s GT450 microlights. This is open-to-the-elements microlighting at its best so it’s flight suit on headset on & get ready to swoop over stunning south Somerset with excellent all-round visibility from your seat.

If you opt for a fixed-wing flight you’ll be in a closed cockpit aircraft which resembles your typical light aircraft. Admittedly it’s more comfortable & warmer in there but we can’t deny there’s something quite special about the open cockpit option!

All experiences are treated as actual lessons so you’ll follow the NPPL (M) syllabus which is the official microlight pilot’s training programme. That means you’ll learn how these machines fly how the controls work & have a go at flying yourself. If you want to get a deeper insight into these machines we can highly recommend the landaway day. You cruise along the coast & across the water to the Isle of Wight landing at a local airfield for lunch before heading back to Henstridge.

With a choice of flex or fixed wing aircraft & a full range of flight durations it’s also good to know you can fly all year round out of Henstridge Airfield. Blue skies & beaches in summer & silky smooth air with low winds in autumn & winter
- that’s the beauty of flights in microlights in south Somerset!

Product Description

Have a go at Microlighting in Oxfordshire & enjoy your first aerial miles in a microlight! This small & friendly school is based at Enstone Airfield around 14 miles north west of Oxford city centre & boasts tranquility in the skies as well as the chance to see the lovely Cotswolds from the air
- what more could you ask for on a microlighting lesson in Oxfordshire?

Your flight session will be hosted by Phil Reed who has been microlighting since 1989 & a fully qualified CAA instructor here in Oxfordshire since 1993. He is also an examiner so he tests budding students & those pilots wanting to be tutors too so we know you're under safe wings as you prepare for your introductory foray into flying these Ultra Light aircraft.

Our Enstone venue offers trial flights in fixed wing aircraft from renowned ultralight manufacturer Thruster. Thruster's Sprint microlight is powered by a four stroke Jabiru engine that is mounted above the cockpit rather than on the nose of the fuselage. This fix wing craft uses 'standard' controls that's to say it has a control stick & rudder pedals inside the cockpit. The centre is also fully registered & licenced to sell service & maintain many marques of microlight.

On arrival you will be met by one of the microlighting team at the HQ which is located within the Oxfordshire Sportflying Clubhouse underneath the airfield's control tower. You'll see there are lots of other privately & shared ownership planes around the apron alongside the asphalt & grass runways & in the hangar making this a bustling little aerodrome. The advantage at Enstone is that you are in pretty much all unrestricted airspace around these parts of Oxfordshire so there is plenty of scope for circuits & various flight paths in the immediate area

Microlighting Oxfordshire is offered on a one to one basis with all flights taking place in dual-controlled fixed wing Thruster microlights. We have 20 30 45 & 60 flight durations available & in each case you will have a pre-flight safety briefing before take off & once airborne you will be invited to take the controls
- & if you fancy continuing to get your NPPL (M) (that's National Private Pilot's Licence Microlighting) these initial lessons in Oxfordshire do count towards the minimum 25 flying hours needed to gain your licence.
