Fun & affordable microlighting in Berkshire! This small & friendly club offers a choice of microlight flight options out of Membury Airfield. Easy to get to from all over Berkshire & beyond this is a great place to take your first flight in a microlight aircraft. Membury was a busy USAAF & later RAF station. Once the war was over the airfield was privatised & much of the land turned back to agricultural use but there was still a thriving General Aviation scene & that remains today at this strategically-positioned airfield between Reading & Swindon. Microlight flights are operated in either fixed-wing closed cockpit or flex-wing open cockpit aircraft. The choice is yours. Will you get back to the grass roots of the sport & don your flying suit for a flight in the flex-wing? Or will you stay nice & cosy in the closed cockpit of the fixed wing? Both offer very different experiences for you as a passenger but both are brilliant in their own way! Indeed the instructo... ...
Enjoy microlighting in Camberley flying out of Blackbushe Airport! This is your chance to experience flying in a modern lights sports aircraft with an expert pilot at the helm. You'll even get the chance to have a go at the controls yourself during your flight. This microlight training school in Camberley at Blackbushe General Aviation Airport is headed up by Eric who is a highly experienced pilot. He literally has thousands of flying hours under his belt having flown light aircraft hang gliders & microlights in the UK & South Africa. Eric loves nothing more than taking guests up for their first taste of microlighting from Camberley. You'll be flying in the school's Aerospool WT9 Dynamic which is a high-performance low-wing microlight with a fully-enclosed cockpit. This low-wing aircraft offers excellent visibility thanks to the bubble canopy & inside it's a side-by-side configuration. This is great as it means that you can observe what the pilot is doing at all times. As the WT9 is dual-controlled you too will be sitting in front of your own control column. That means that once you're airborne & flying straight & level it could very well be your turn at the controls. & we have to say there's nothing quite like the moment you first flew a microlight. This is actually you at the helm as you cruise over the Surrey countryside. Pretty amazing stuff eh? Of course there's a lot to learn if you want to actually become a microlight pilot but these experiences in Camberley do count towards your training log book. & even if you have no ambitions on that front actually flying this sporty little aircraft on your very first sortie is totally thrilling. We are offering 30 & 60-minute flights out of the lovely Blackbushe Airport. Well-situated near the M3 & easily accessible from the likes of Farnborough Bracknell Basingstoke & beyond microlighting with this Camberley-based operator is a great choice to get you airborne in a superb little plane. ...
Go microlighting in East Anglia! Based at Beccles Airfield on the Norfolk & Suffolk border this small & friendly flying school is a joy to visit surrounded by quiet countryside & lots of unrestricted airspace. Known locally as Ellough Airfield Beccles was built as an RAF station in the Second World War being occupied by RAF Bomber & Coastal Comm&. & in fact Beccles was used as an air sea rescue post until its closure in 1945. It all went quiet in this tranquil corner of East Anglia until 1965 when Beccles became a heliport for North Sea oil operations. Since then the General Aviation activities that include helicopters light aircraft parachuting & now microlighting has kept Beccles Aerodrome busy. For your microlighting lesson there are two (technically speaking) very similar aircraft available. Both come in at under 450kg so are classed as microlights. Both have the same size engine & both seat two people. But take one look at the flex wing microlight next... ...
Fun flexwing microlighting near Nottingham! occupying a discrete little flying field not far from Ilkeston this is a great place to go microlighting. & there's none of that enclosed cockpit business going on here this is grass roots flex-wing open- cockpit aviation at its very best! With big cities like Nottingham Derby & bustling Ilkeston town all nearby you'd be forgiven for thinking this airfield was in the middle of a build-up area. But it's not. This is where the industrial heritage of the East Midlands meets the tranquility of the Derbyshire Dales. It's a true lovely part of the country & very much merits being flown over in a microlight. These ultralight planes are superb for exploring town & countryside. They're small & light so don't need much of a runway to take off. This operator does offer a 30 minute flight & it's highly recommended for those of you who just want to dip your toes into this whirly world of open-cockpit tricycle-style microlighting. You stay local perhaps seeing Shipley Country Park the golf course at Morley Hayes & beyond Ilkeston centre to the snaking traffic on the M1. The more adventurous amongst you will love the 60 minute microlight flight.
