These day trips run as a scheduled service operating out of Lydd Airport in Kent. Flying to Le Touquet is really rather spectacular as you take off & head straight over the English Channel giving you a seagull's eye view of this busy shipping route. As the coastline of Northern France comes into view you'll swoop down following the estuary of the river Canche to land at Le Touquet aerodrome.
Le Touquet airport was built in 1936 in true Art Deco style. It was a very busy airport in the 1950s as everyone from celebrated writers & film stars to royalty flocked to Le Touquet & now it's a small & friendly General Aviation airport that welcomes lots of day trippers wanting to discover this pleasant town.
Once you've landed you can go into town by taxi local minibus (called navettes in French) or our preferred method of transport is by bicycle. You can hire the bikes at the airport & it's a lovely five minute ride on pink tarmaced lanes lined with sweet-smelling pine trees into the centre of Le Touquet. Cycling is very safe here with dedicated cycle paths & wide roads.
These Touquet flights arrive at 10:50 giving you plenty of time to have a wander around the town to take in the wonderful Belle Epoque architecture including the elegant Town Hall the Palais de l' Europe the Market & the luxury Westminster hotel before stopping off at one of the many cafes & bars that line the streets & the promenade for a pre-lunch apéritif. After lunch (we can highly recommend the local fish soup speciality & a Touquettoise beer) what could be better than taking off your shoes & going for a walk along the long golden sandy beach?
With several fantastic golf courses & the famous racecourse too you can even fly in to Le Touquet for a day at the horses races or to play a round of golf. Le Touquet also known as Paris-Plage attracts visitors all year round with events such as the beach motocross classic car parades & markets.
As for the flights to & from Le Touquet they are a far-cry from flying with your usual low-cost airline
- these are executive twin turbo prop planes with leather armchair-style seating carrying up to nine very privileged passengers for a very special day out to visit wonderful Le Touquet. Bon voyage!
