Fancy a bit of axe throwing near Manchester? Why not make the journey south to this brilliant outdoor activity centre near Macclesfield to see if you've got what it takes to hurl some axes
- & you can even add in a spot of archery too! It's a proper woodland setting for these axe adventures. Not far from the village of Rushton Spencer on the edge of the wonderful Peak District you'll find the team is ready & waiting to teach you all you need to know about lobbing axes into big chunks of wood. It might sound more akin to the weekend pastime of a Canadian lumberjack but it's really really good fun. & if you take onboard the safety & rules chucking axes about is actually a really safe activity as it's in a very controlled environment. Of course everything you need to know will all be explained to you by the team before you set off for the woodland clearing where the activity takes place. It's all about stance & your throwing arm action. Get it wrong & the axe just plops...

Did you know you can go axe throwing near Calverton in north Nottingham? If you thought chucking hand axes into big chunks of wood was only for lumberjacks think again. This session held in the lovely Lime Woods will teach you how to hold & throw an axe. & once you've done it once you'll want to do it over & over again! Back in the day Native American Indians came up with the Tomahawk the sort of axe you'll be throwing. It was a heavy h&-held axe that was used both as a weapon & for every day tasks such as chopping cutting & hunting. Now whilst that all sounds a little bit Captain Caveman think about the Middle Ages. This is an age when brave warriors were armed with axes as primary weapons in fierce battles. & who knows axes could very well have been used in this corner of north Nottingham? The preferred method for lobbing the axes for your typical warrior was an overhand throw of said axe. That makes the axe rotate as it flies through the air to then land with a thud head side up into your target which might just happen to be the skull of your pesky enemy. Thankfully there's nothing gruesome about today's axe throwing sessions at this centre near Calverton. The team here has sorted some nice tree trunks as targets & the axes used are specifically manufactured to be used in the sport of axe throwing. The method of throwing the axe hasn't changed though! You will be throwing modern Tomahawk-style axes & you'll need to know how to pick them up & the stance to adopt. You'll learn all about the arm-swinging action to take to send your axe into the air heading deftly towards the target. You might be a bit nervous about it all at first but we have to say it's an amazing feeling to lob an swirling axe into the air. If you thought axes were only used for chopping up firewood & things like that these days we think you will love discovering the inner warrior in you as you learn all about axe throwing in north Nottingham. & for even more fun why not book onto the triple medley to add archery & laser clays into the mix? ...

Try axe throwing in Warwick at this fun-filled outdoor centre! Located in the heart of the Warwickshire countryside this shooting ground is home to a whole load of activities including chucking axes into huge chunks of wood
- & it's brilliant! These days not many of us regularly use axes for things like chopping firewood (we just turn the thermostat up a bit!) so handling an axe is quite a thing. They are naturally hefty tools so on this axe throwing session the Warwickshire team of instructors will start you off with lighter training axes. These all-metal h&-held trainer axes have multiple edges to them so in theory they are easier to get to stick in the wood. Having said that there's still quite a knack to throwing these light axes so your instructor will show you how to stand how to pick & hold the axe & then how to draw your arm up & release the axe. At the start of these axe throwing sessions in Warwick you'll be at about 3 metres from the targets. That allows y...
