About the Oval Tulip Table
Instead of resting on legs, like most other tables, the Oval Tulip Table has a base stretching from the top down to the floor. This creates a lighter impression, consistent with the aim of Saarinen, who wanted to create furniture with fewer legs, since he thought too many legs were a waste of space. This reproduction is available in either marble or fibreglass with colours ranging between black & white. Its simple design & modern look can be combined with almost any interior
- & it looks very good with a few Tulip chairs.
History of the Oval Tulip Table
Eero Saarinen designed the Oval Tulip Table in 1956. Saarinen created truly iconic pieces of furniture with the Tulip series & yet he did not receive the Museum of Modern Art Award for his creation until 1969.
